You would take images as requested by the provider to help with the patient's diagnosis and treatment. Without the image, the provider may not have enough information to proceed, so your role is literally make or break ! What would you do as a MRI Technologist?

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for obtaining high quality images as requested from medical professionals for use in the development of patient treatment plans. You can expect to regularly:

  • Operate high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce radiographic images of patients' specific body parts;
  • Operate a Magnetic Resonance (MR) scanner to obtain images used by physicians, determine appropriate imaging techniques, and operate console and peripheral hardware;
  • Screen patients for MR safety, explain the MRI process and address patient concerns prior to performing scanning;
  • Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and ensure patient and staff safety;
  • Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately;
  • Document imaging performed, appropriate charges and other necessary information in patients' electronic medical records and Patient Archive Communication System (PACS);
  • Maintain quality control measures in accordance with American College of Radiology guidelines;
  • Follow quality assurance guidelines including positioning, markers, demographics, and coning to ensure optimal images before releasing image to physician;
  • Prepare radiology department daily including cleaning, stocking, and sanitizing work areas and equipment.

Requirements

  • Certifications/Education
    • MRI Technologist Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT;
  • Knowledge of:
    • MRI and radiology safety procedures and protocols;
    • HIPAA and OSHA regulations/procedures;
  • Experience:
    • Using computer systems and applications, including radiology software;
    • Communicating effectively with patients, physicians and other medical staff.

Preferred Qualifications - How can you set yourself apart from other applicants?

  • One or more years of experience working as a radiologic technologist;
  • Experience using radiology software.

This position operates in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and similar conditions are possible.

Schedule: May include nights and weekends (Saturday); schedule is based on manager discretion.

Travel: This position may require travel to other clinic locations based on manager discretion.
