Breast Care for Washington is an independent imaging center in the District of Columbia, uniquely positioned to impact women’s access to breast cancer screening.

Established in 2012, our operations were specifically designed to overcome current barriers that prevent low-income, medically underserved women from receiving high quality breast care. Our location in Ward 8 brings services to patient population that previously was hampered from receiving care because of distance to providers and a lack of transportation options. We offer an enhanced level of care coordination for our patients including initiation into screening, assistance with identifying eligibility for public assistance programs and post image navigating services (i.e. biopsies and surgical consult support).

Our physical location embedded in the federally qualified health center (FQHC) allows us to play a critical role in strengthening the link between primary care and screening. We are the only stationary 3D mammography facility providing direct services within a community health clinic setting. While we are embedded in Community of Hope, we also have strong referral relationships with three additional FQHC’s – Unity Health Care, La Clinica del Pueblo, and Whitman Walker Health. Finally we are the only facility to offer state of the art 3D mammography to the medically underserved population east of the Anacostia River and we are the only mammography facility in the Washington DC area that will screen any woman who comes to us regardless of insurance status.
