Radiologist Jobs in Alaska

A Radiologist is a specialist physician who uses medical imaging techniques such as X-rays, Ultrasound, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (Computed Tomography), PET (Positron Emission Tomography), and other technologies to diagnose and treat diseases within the human body. They play a pivotal role in the radiology industry by performing image-guided procedures while interpreting the results of these imaging examinations. Their responsibilities also include consulting with other physicians to provide an accurate diagnosis and delivering appropriate patient care. They should have an excellent understanding of human anatomy, radiation safety, and the pathophysiology of diseases.

Before becoming a Radiologist, a person usually starts their medical career as a General Practitioner or Surgeon. Some also gain experience as a Radiology Technologist or Radiology Assistant, performing diagnostic imaging examinations and assisting radiologists and other physicians. Essential skills for a Radiologist include high-level analytical skills, solid communication and interpersonal skills, keen detail-orientation, and strong problem-solving abilities. They must have a medical degree, complete a radiology residency, and have required certifications. The American Board of Radiology (ABR) offers certification in Diagnostic Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Medical Physics.
