Vascular Technician Jobs in New Haven, CT

A Vascular Technician, also known as a Vascular Sonographer, works in the radiology field and plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating vascular diseases. They operate ultrasound equipment to record blood flow, blood pressure, or images of veins and arteries. They assist doctors in identifying abnormalities such as blood clots, blockages, or aneurysms. Their duties also include preparing patients for procedures, explaining the processes to them, and documenting patient history and test results.

Prior to becoming a Vascular Technician, a person may have roles such as Radiologic Technologist, Ultrasound Technician, or Medical Assistant. Essential skills for this job include attention to detail, technical aptitude, communication skills, and physical stamina. Vascular Technicians should ideally have a certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and a Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification, which signifies a high level of expertise in the field. They should also have a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, particularly the vascular system.
